On Wednesday, March 25, Drum Corps International (DCI) wisely decided to cancel the 2020 summer tour, a decision announced today. In light of COVID-19 and the safety of drum corps members, volunteers, staff, administration and their families, DCI will be taking the time over the next few months to plan for a full return in the summer of 2021.
Within the Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps, our primary concern right now is the health, safety, and well-being of our Raiders family and their extended families.
In the interest of serving the needs of our members and with the success of our virtual camp this past month, we will continue to meet online at a reduced schedule. The Raiders will develop a number of creative projects to provide our members with drum corps activities, including the possibility and hope of performance in person later this summer if safety and health guidelines permit such at that time.
Our 2020 program, Reboot, will continue into 2021, and we are excited to bring this production to the DCI competitive field next summer. With DCI extending age-out eligibility and corps having an expanded opportunity to plan for the following season, we expect 2021 to be an invigorating and exciting season of drum corps for members and fans.
While DCI hibernates for the 2020 season, the Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps will be active, continuing to make memories for our members and remaining together as a family. The Raiders and its parent organization, A Plus Education and Performing Arts, will have the opportunity to invest in the future in ways that might not have been possible otherwise, and we are positioned well to do so.
Thank you for all your support of our plans for the 2020 season. For the Raiders, 2021 will be an extension of these plans, and we’re looking forward to more time together.
