Ready to submit your video?

Hello and thank you for your interest in X-Stream Brass.

We are extremely excited to start our inaugural session of X-Stream Brass. This promises to be a unique, new performance venue. Our goals are to keep these sessions short, innovative, interactive, and fun. Our computer design team has created a program that will revolutionize virtual rehearsals.

Our tentative rehearsal structure will be follow the following four week format:

Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday members will receive 30 minutes of individual instruction with a member of our brass team.

Thursday, Friday, or Saturday members will submit videos showing their implementation and improvement of the concepts taught in the lesson.

Sunday we will all meet as a group for a masterclass with Youtube brass sensation, Chris Bill. Afterwards we will have a virtual rehearsal. During this rehearsal members will be asked to video themselves in short bursts, approximately 15 minutes and submit them. Our team has technology that will nearly instantly mix all the videos. This will allow for you to all have nearly instantaneous feedback. We will be able to work as a team to listen to and analyze our performance and make adjustments virtually and work as a team to make these sessions as close to an in person experience as we can.

During and shortly after the four week period our visual design team will create a truly unique multi media video with Chris Bill's guidance which will be released in several different forums.

Audition Requirements

We are looking at a very fast turnaround time on these sessions. With that in mind we want you to feel comfortable with your audition. Rather than supplying you with an audition packet we want you to play something that shows off your abilities. Suitable audition materials include:

  • Standard Solo Literature for your instrument
  • Standard Band Excerpts Grade Level 4 (medium advanced), 5 (advanced), 6 (professional)
  • Lists can be found using the following sites:
    • https://www.jwpepper.com/sheet-music/search.jsp?statelist=MD.B.CONTEST.GRADE5
    • https://www.jwpepper.com/sheet-music/search.jsp?statelist=MD.B.CONTEST.GRADE6
  • Standard Orchestral Excerpts
  • Etudes

When choosing your audition materials you should choose a minimum of two pieces that show different styles and technical skills.

  1. Review the audition requirements.
  2. Run through your audition requirements before recording.
  3. Record using your phone or a webcam.
  4. Review your video and re-record if you like.
  5. Upload the video to YouTube, and select "Unlisted" when publishing the video.
  6. Save the URL (link) of your video and come back to this page to submit your audition.

Return here to submit your audition videos.

I look forward to seeing your videos and having the opportunity to work with you and share something truly unique with the world. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at your earliest convenience.
